Chloé Zhao’s much-anticipated Eternals is hitting screens across the nation today, and, let me tell you, it was well worth the wait.
The Academy Award-winning director, behind greats such as Nomadland (which also won Frances McDormand an Oscar), brings us breathtaking vistas (shot on real locations, instead of CGI), tender moments, and a cast meant to be as diverse as the world. Trolls have already Rotten Tomatoes-bombed the movie for depicting the first gay kiss in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Other reviewers have critiqued the movie’s long runtime and inability to make much sense.
But for those who have long watched Marvel movies, we should know what we’re getting into when we step into the MCU. It would be foolish to have it any other way. So, haters are gonna hate, but for everyone else — enjoy the show, the escapism, and appreciate the suspension of disbelief. It would be criminal to miss out on the witty dialogue and the very funny Kumail Nanjiani.
